Are you a literal communicator, or do you read between the lines. Working with a lot of engineers, I’ve come across a fair amount of both.
What I’ve noticed about the literal communicators is that words matter more. Each word is measured.
For those who read between the lines, the more metaphors, the merrier. Nuance becomes a game of sorts.
We all need to be able to do both, and sometimes I think we forget how to cross the line to the other side.
Your mission, if you choose to accept it: Find a communication balance between being literal AND reading between the lines.
