Managing people is hard. There are several reasons. One, personalities are dynamic. Two, drivers can be complementary or contrary. Three, levels of expertise range broadly.
And then there are things like deadliness, and habits that are hard to break.
But one of the biggest challenges for me is managing people when they have self-doubt. Whether I am being genderist or not, I find that women create emotional reasons to get in their own way of success, whereas men just avoid dealing with their fear. Both can have negative outcomes.
Your mission, if you choose to accept it: Get out of your own way, avoid swirl AND avoidance. Both are damaging. Confront your fears, and deal with them. But don’t pin it on someone else. Own your sh!t!
Be kind. Be safe. Be appropriate. Now go!
