Work/Life Integration

I have been working so much lately. And when I’m not working, I’m thinking about work. That’s the game we entrepreneurs play – the game of “always thinking of new ways”, and therefore the game of “always thinking about work”.

Everything becomes an ‘apropos’ to another idea for work. Every story something we could do or should do. When you see something, really see it working and really see its potential as something without boundaries (unknown, innovative), the ideas are endless. The funnel is like a cornucopia of brain cells firing off new ideas, constantly.

So where’s the balance in that? It comes back to work/life integration. Integrate ideas from  every day life at work, and integrate working life at home.

The trick is to find and create an intentional space (mental and physical) to allow ideas to percolate.  Don’t try too hard to compartmentalize. Consolidate. Streamline, even. But by trying to balance it, you’ll be more imbalanced. Just, integrate. (See Work-life collage).

If you can’t afford to, don’t worry about renting an office. Build an office in your back yard, (I’m thinking about a tree-house office) or renovate your basement. You doubly benefit by spending money on yourself, and your space.

The possibilities are endless.
