Why do I like the feeling of retail therapy? It’s almost as if stuff replaces fear. The more we have, the more entitled we feel and the more invincible. It’s like our armor. When I’m down or looking to escape my thoughts, shopping soothes the soul. I enjoy being in public, feeling like I belong to the sea of humanity. And it sort of feels like camouflage when I buy new shoes. Even carrying the shopping bags are a kind of masquerade for me, just your everyday agent.
So, is that why we want more stuff, more money? Is invincibility a superpower that only a select few possess based on net worth, where you can literally buy your freedom?
Your mission, if you choose to accept it: Be a daily superhero to someone. Take off the Rambo camouflage, and be just plain you, the everyday hero and agent of change.
