Superhuman Log Date January 23, 2018 #beinghuman #beingsuperhuman #tapintoempathy #beconsiderate #noexcuses

In 2017 we’ve had our share of funerals, so it’s joyful to begin 2018 with a wedding. There seems to be a universal truth about weddings and funerals bringing out both the best and worst in people. Could it be because each symbolically represents an ending of the status quo and a beginning of something new? Or they are such definitive milestones that we can be uncompromising for this one time in our lives?

Or maybe each ceremony taps into good and bad memories that fill us with emotions to the extent that we only live in reptilian or limbic brain for a while, incapable of accessing our prefrontal cortex (rational brain).

Whatever the case, we always need to think about the chain reaction of our emotions and our actions. Sometimes we are so caught up in our own worlds we cannot imagine anyone else feeling as bad as we do, so we are more concerned with releasing our feelings than withholding painful communication. Maybe it feels impossible, but we could try to tap into our empathy more. Even when we suffer.

The most important thing any of us can do is to be supportive during very critical milestones.

Your mission to achieve Superhumanness: Tap into empathy to be considerate of others. Even when we’re suffering, it’s never an excuse to behave badly.

Be kind along the journey and remember, you got this!
