OMG This is Scary!

Some colleagues and I were meeting about a joint project the other day when one of them confessed she was nervous about committing because it was something she hadn’t done before… she didn’t know she could do it well. I responded:

“Everyone’s going to be uncomfortable at some point during this process. We all are going to be out of our comfort zones at one time or another… Otherwise we can’t grow.”

I am much better at dishing out advice than taking it myself.

I have some fabulous new ideas for my business. I mean, I think they’re really great and have HUGE potential. And I’m terrified. Why? Because they require things that I haven’t done before and things I can’t control.

I didn’t realize quite how much this was affecting me until I sat down to write an email to a potential partner this morning and got goosebumps halfway through. Right now, my fear is keeping me from moving forward. I’m procrastinating (I filed over 1000 email messages yesterday)… I still haven’t sent that email I started.

So it’s time for me to take my own advice. Suck it up and take a risk… Just DO it! I’m the only person who will know if I don’t meet my expectations.

Any tips out there for working through the fear of stepping out of the comfort zone?
