We definitely live in a culture where more is more. I am grappling with a tough decision for my family relating to a fancy schmancy club that would be fantastic to join. Not because I am a beautiful person or want to be with the beautiful people. But because it offers some amenities that I can use as a business owner. In a city with too many damned clubs of privilege, there are a very few community pools that provide outdoor pool time for our kids (that, and a not-so-clean urban lake).
It’s a club where I can use babysitting in a pinch. Where I can have date nights built in. Where…my spouse doesn’t want to hang out. He sails, so he has a different definition of club than the rest of us.
And so, if we’re a team, it’s hard to find the common ground, even in a relationship that is semi-functional.
Your mission, if you choose to accept it: Even when more is more, be okay with less. Life is simply too short to stress over the heartache and battles of a lifetime. Might as well suffer in the short term knowing that this, too, shall pass. #MoreIsMore #LessIsMore #LifeIsShort
