This theme is appropriate given it’s springtime. It’s also timely considering I’ve been struggling with the interviews, sneaking around my current employer, deciding if I want to focus on one company at a time or if I really want to diversify in order to expedite my departure.
So I’ve been talking to folks on the job hunt and was surprised to hear that some like the one-opportunity-at-a-time strategy. All their eggs are in one basket and they are putting a lot of emotional investment within that one chance.
Unless you have a really good chance of getting it, I’d highly recommend you try on a few pairs of career shoes. I was interviewing with a separate company today, for Round I, and it was really exciting to learn more about the culture there. I was initially thinking it wasn’t going to be as fun as the first company, but learning about all of the amazing FREEDOM really really turned my head.
Sometimes we can open our minds to new opportunities and even feel more empowered by checking out a few different companies. Best not to put the proverbial eggs in one panier – diversify!
