Owning debt is a rite of passage for all college students. Some of us eventually get our college loans under control before we add car and home to the equation.
I remember when I was working overseas and upon my return, I couldn’t get preapproved for a car loan because I had no debt (other than college loans). Without owning a credit card and racking up debt, I was more of a liability. Strange concept.
And so it goes without saying that the American dream consists of debt. But I believe that getting as much information about the many ways to avoid debt or tax on debt (like this link for post college grads) or when dealing with refinancing a home is the most powerful and EMPOWERFUL thing we can do for ourselves. Seek help. Find a helpful community if you don’t have any local confidants.
Information is emPOWERment.
