Lately I’ve been talking to colleagues about a back up plan. It seems that something happens when we are looking at 40, 45 or 50. Maybe it happens in stages, but we realize that this couldn’t possibly be as good as it gets. There has to be more to the equation.
The challenge with corporate America is that nothing is guaranteed, so even the most reliable jobs can fall through. And then, what’s your backup plan?
Your mission, if you choose to accept it: Redefine a Future You. Assess alternative pathways to a more mature and happy future. Are you still in the same industry? Have you completely pivoted and tried something new? Do you feel safer in a large company or do you crave the freedom of doing your own thing?
