Merit-based leadership. We love to believe in rites of passage based on societal norms. We love rules, hierarchies and ordained titles. This frustrates me because I see more women feeling like impostors without multiple degrees, working two or three times harder.
We love to be told what to believe instead of exercising critical thinking. We let influencers tell us how to define success, and where to shop and purchase our needs to be successful.
It’s no wonder I’m a non-conformist. I’ve been in marketing and branding for too long, so I know what it looks like to be the message makers.
But what about you as a leader? Do you believe your title is your brand and should warrant respect, something you deserve based on your merit score, or will you, can you, earn it?
Your mission to achieve Superhumanness: Earn Respect, Don’t Buy It with Credits. Disrupt merit-based leadership. Remember that you deserve credit when you work hard. But you earn respect when you lead with a long view and can-do mindset.
