I’ve been reading about Portlandia a lot lately and have been utterly inspired. This quote had my wheels turning about a few things and I want to share them with you. Carrie Brownstein, in an interview on NPR, was explaining how they got their start. Two friends with imagination, creativity (not to mention past success) and no real plan, decided to create these video shorts. After a while, they realized there was a real thread to what had been created. And Portlandia was born. Story here.
And then I was looking at a few articles in Fast Company and came across this quote.
To have a sense of yourself as an impostor or an outsider kind of pushes you to not settle for something.
And it reminded me of a course I took on leadership where we all had to answer questions until the final “column” revealed itself. Everyone of these people, mostly successful company leaders or country leaders, felt like an impostor at some level. Fear of failure was driving us to be our best. And that’s what has brought me here. At the core, I’ve become afraid of settling. I don’t want to be “stuck”, but I also feel I have a lot to say. So here it is. Good or bad, Covert Agents are actively pontificating, sharing and exploring with our community.
