Today was one of those days when I jokingly asked the barista if I could have a shot of something (other than espresso). She replied that she had a flask in her backpack (if I liked Whiskey).
She smiled. And I smiled wondering what grain of truth was in that flask. I ordered a cherry tart instead with my Americano.
There are days when I feel slighted by the universe. And so it was either the cherry tart or the flask that could have solved my problem for a second. Maybe with whiskey I would have let my guard down and not felt deflated and somewhat defensive.
Guess what? Everyone hits those lows. It’s impossible to imagine life without them. How the hell else are we going to feel high with the lows, sympathy without desperation, empathy without suffering, and generally acquire the ability to understand what makes humans tick?
Your mission, if you choose to accept it: Even when you feel slighted on a dog day afternoon, you can still let your guard down with a little introspection and a lot of intention. Grab your strength and remember: this, too, shall pass. #grabyourpower #grabyourstrength #feelingslighted #dogdayafternoon #letyourguarddown
