Sometimes I hear an argument or counter argument on an issue that sounds strangely familiar. Almost word for word. Like the perfect branded sound bite from CNN or FOX.
It’s disappointing to hear words and slogans repeated with little thought. We stick to a familiar echo chamber from the chosen side, while stopping short of looking beyond the line in the sand.
This day before inauguration could be a good time to explore reasons beyond what we are hearing and repeating.
What are the non-partisan and bi-partisan issues, in your own words?
Your mission, if you choose to accept it: Cross the aisle and see what the other side is reading, believing, hearing. It’s easy enough to see on FB (and beware of clickbait stories) but go beyond and look at legitimate sources to understand what the hype or beliefs are and why. Whatever you do, develop your own argument, try not to rely on and plagiarize others. Use your own words to describe why.
Be kind. Be safe. Be appropriate. Now go!
