The other day I was talking to a member of the same preschool community (our daughters go to school together) about her decision to hire a career coach.
I was surprised by her decision because she seemed like one of those parents who really embraces her work and family, finding ways to make both work comfortably.
Today, another mom from the same school was telling me that she identifies herself as her girl’s mama, and doesn’t know who she is anymore.
We are all aging parents, 40’s with toddlers, trying to figure out how we ended outside of our work/life bullseye halfway through our lives.
Financially, I think we are all wondering – is this as good as it gets? All working moms, all living in urban areas, all feeling more or less safe for our kids, and wondering if we can work just enough to live fulfilling lives.
What about you, does any of this sound familiar? My one piece of advice is finding friend-time. Girls or boys nights out are just as important as work outs, golf or spa (and retail) therapy! Make time for you. It will help you to better decide how to get to where you need to be. Work wise and family wise.
