Transforming the Work Week

I want to make a prediction. The workweek as we know it will shift for the corporate masses in the U.S. And I’m not talking about a “work from home day”.

With enough studies to prove the ineffectiveness in the office, and enough technology to evolve how we work and collaborate, my prediction is that the Millennials will demand shorter work days in the office, with a few hours here or there at the home office. So, it would look like this.

Be the early bird, show up at 7 am, and leave by 3 pm.

Or, saunter in around 10 am, after an hour or two working from home, and stay until 5 or 6 pm.

This does happen for Boomers, Gen Xers, Gen Yers, and Millennials already, by the way. It’s just not “the norm”.

Will a flexible work-day that gives you 5-6 hours in the office EVERY DAY, and 2-3 hours from the home office work? Will companies set up and expense the home office for every employee? Or will these become tax write-offs?

What are your thoughts? Can this be done?
