The Critical Class

I want to rename the 99% from middle class to “critical class”. There is this perception out there that we need the 1%. That they are critical to us. Among the 1%, those that own corporations such as GM, Toyota or Tesla, generate jobs for the rest of us in the “lower middle”.

Yet, there are plenty out there that are not generating jobs. I’m sorry, Gwyneth, do we really need more GOOP in our faces to show us we can’t afford the “affordable luxury” you recommend to readers?

So, if we are to rethink critical, let’s start with the middle class and remember why we are critical. Why we matter. Why we need to be supported and really respected. Because without the masses, we couldn’t possibly create a 1% anyway. Doesn’t work without a healthier, wealthier critical class to afford GOOP’s $195 T-shirt.
