When I stand back and look at our behaviors in the workplace, it’s like a carefully constructed dance where we learn to rely on others to help us learn the moves, and until we do we are totally lost. Have you ever gone to a class where you had no idea what to do? It’s so stressful if the room is full and everyone else is in sync!
And it’s the same in life, at work, in our cultures. We learn the steps, positions and rhythms based on the beat. We learn to partner or dance solo.
We learn to dance together.
How we show up, how much confidence we wear on our faces, this all matters and determines if and how we succeed at the choreography.
Your mission to achieve Superhumanness: Learn to dance together in life, not just solo. You still have autonomy to choreograph your own dance so others can rely upon you. Be a leader and a team player. And then turn toward others who could use some help with their dance.
