Polite Society

I think a fine name for my place of labor is polite society. We are all really nice to one another, and when any one of us breaks the polite code of conduct, it’s frowned upon.

The contrast is so different from where I was. So much so, that I need to stop second guessing if I’m doing something wrong when, instead of confrontation, there is silence.

Reminds me of one of my biggest weaknesses as a corporate dweller. I am an intentional rebel against the notion that knowledge is power. So much so, that I probably say what I think too often. Wait a minute, those aren’t really the same thing, are they? Except when I fight the mantra “need to know basis” and share insights with people whom I think need to know a greater truth that might help them grow. Never mind the fact that they had no clue and were suddenly caught off guard. And then I realize I better call my executive coach and work on that one.

My intuition is fairly strong and I assume everyone sees what I see. My friend told me I was naturally “mindful”. He then told me I needed to meditate 20 minutes a day, which I think means I better calm down.

Time to start meditating!
