Professional Women of Yore Are Becoming Extinct

Corporate America, as we know it, is very different from when my parents were in the workforce. And with technology being so woven into our daily lives, the future is ever changing for our children and their children.

Yet in some ways, things don’t change as I scroll through the thought leaders at Fast Company’s Innovation conference (1 female to 7 males) and listen to CEO of Yahoo dig her own grave regarding flexibility in the workplace.

Well, I believe the female professional of yesterday is becoming extinct. Even if there are women out there that believe we need to be men to be successful, I see a future where the workplace can better accommodate parents – both dads and moms.

Here are some interesting facts:

1 in 4 women left their jobs to escape toxic cultures in the workplace.

18.9 million women quit their day jobs (or never joined the corporate fray) to blog, and 10% make over six figures.

53% of women are bread winners and still making less then men no matter how much they lean in.

More and more men and women are having marital problems due to imbalanced roles.
