I think I am having an epiphany. Could it be that for so long, we have been teaching employees to become drones (as in bees or ants, not in the aerial vehicle drones), so that they don’t have emotional outbursts and challenge authority?
Could it be, that instead of learning Emotional Intelligence we are learning to be unemotional worker bees? There is something to not questioning authority, and getting away with asking less questions, and staying away from curiosity unless absolutely necessary. There is something to suppressing both empathy and sympathy, so we can just “get ‘er done” with apathetic fervor.
Your mission, if you choose to accept it: Don’t be a drone. Take care to invest emotionally in your work, in your contribution to a greater end, in your employees, and in your co-workers. #peoplematter #purposematters #beinghuman
