Take Me to Your Leader!

In a leadership role, whether covert or not, you are like the roots of a big strong tree, with branches that spread around the world, touching all the places you have lived and worked.  The leaves that cover these branches represent the many, many colleagues who’s professional and personal lives you have touched and influenced.

As a leader, you develop and nurture resonant relationships, not only with your subordinates, but also with your peers, and even your supervisors.  You put them into a positive emotional state.  You encourage them to reflect upon and talk about their purpose or vision (ideally, in a company setting, it will be your shared vision).

The power of that encounter with you, a true leader, is that it leaves people feeling.  They feel positive emotions.  They feel renewed, open, and lifted.  They feel hopeful and optimistic.  They are more open to new ideas, learning, and most important of all, change.

Who helped you to get where you are today?  What inspiring leader comes to mind?  Take a moment to think about them.  Do you remember how that person made you feel?  That is the power of leadership.

Currently, my glass is half full.  I need a recharge from one of my leaders.  I need input of positive emotional energy.  Even though I work for myself, I have friends and colleagues who are my leaders.  I need to see them!
